Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has launched KenyaLIVE, a programme that streams live wildlife footage from the country's national parks to audiences around the world.
The product was officially launched at Nairobi National Park on 22 September 2026, although broadcasts began on 7 September. It is produced in partnership with WildEarth KE Productions and has been described as a six-month programme.
Nine parks, sixteen platforms
KenyaLIVE streams from nine parks and conservation areas, including Nairobi National Park, Amboseli, Tsavo East, Tsavo West, the Aberdares, Sibiloi, Meru, Ruma and Mount Elgon.
The broadcasts are distributed across 16 platforms, including the KWS YouTube channel, DStv, Samsung TV Plus and Roku. Organisers say the programme is reaching more than 500,000 unique viewers a day.
Why it matters
Viewers can watch elephants at waterholes, lions hunting or flamingos on a lake in real time. The aim is to turn online viewers into future visitors, and to build interest in parks beyond the country's best-known safari destinations.
The launch fits Kenya's wider push to use digital tools to sell tourism. It came during UN Tourism Week in Eldoret, whose theme this year is digital technology and artificial intelligence in tourism.
Live streaming also gives conservation a wider audience. Kenya's parks compete for attention with safari destinations across the region, and daily broadcasts keep them in front of potential visitors all year round.
